Recently preparing for my October Glacier National Park group, I kept thinking about this image and how it has been one of my favorites I’ve ever taken, and one of my best sellers. I couldn’t remember if I posted the panorama version here on FM. The funny story is that I took this about 20 years along with the 6MP Canon 10D. I also knew next to nothing about landscape photography yet. All I knew was that I was obsessed with mountain lake reflections!
This was the last morning and it was raining and I was very tired. But I kept hearing in my mind “get up, you’re going to miss something!” So, feeling like a total idiot, I went in the rain, to the lake, in the dark and sat under my umbrella (quite nervous about bears ) really wishing that I had slept in! But, at sunrise, suddenly it stopped raining, a strange calm came over the lake, and everything opened up as the mountain showed itself and lit up! This is a moment I will never forget. I improvised by doing a panorama stitch for more megapixels. That turned out to be a great decision because I have sold this very big as a Lumachrome HD from Nevada Art Printers and it has turned out spectacular. Sometimes it’s worth the wait in the rain! 😁
