I live on the Flathead Reservation north of Missoula in western Montana. I serve on the board of a small, local museum - the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana. Last month we had a fund raiser and I was tasked with taking photos of the event that included a performance from "Ryder", a 12-year old who is quite accomplished on the Native flute. Afterwards, he was sitting alone at a small table so I went over to talk to him. I was pretty impressed with how outgoing he was and very relaxed talking to me. I asked if I could take his photo as he sat across the table from me. He was more than happy to pose for me.
I am not much of a people photographer, so I do not have a lot of experience doing this stuff. My camera gear is for mainly landscapes, but I did what I could (i.e., can only open to f4). Also included is a shot from his performance with his dad holding the microphone. The auditorium as not brightly lit, so there may be a touch of motion blur there.
