We’ll see an interchangeable Q lineup before we get IBIS in an M-body.

Gordon, what I said regarding M12 ibis was not imaginary engineering on my part. Take a look at this link under the title "One wish is the image stabilizer" Stefan Daniel says ibis is possible with the current M body design:

I honestly think Leica is scared of releasing a digital m which is what an open q would be. I think they haven’t figured out the strategy. They know their customer base is older and automation is nice and welcomed.

Sony has fully functional manual cameras, with excellent lenses that are becoming smaller and better. Different than canon or Nikon, sony plays in the premium market

In my opinion, the M10-R stands out as one of Leica's finest and most reliable releases. While the M10-P comes in as a close second for me, the M10-R truly excels in terms of image quality, rivaling even the M11.

I much prefer the color output from the M10-R and in terms of dynamic range, I saw no difference between M10-R and M11.

While I wonder what Leica might introduce with a future M12, I struggle to envision any substantial enhancements beyond the current iteration, especially if they choose not to incorporate IBIS -- which, to be honest, I don't even desire unless it comes with zero penalty in terms of more weight or size.

Regarding the rangefinder experience, I'm unsure about what other enhancements Leica could possibly introduce. Consequently, it appears that the majority of improvements and new features will likely be concentrated on LiveView/EVF functionality.

Hi Fred,

I agree with almost everything you have said, except I think we will see sensor improvements in the M camera in due time as well. Stacked sensors have fewer and fewer penalties these days and in a few years I expect them to have fewer penalties yet and allow almost all camera to go without a shutter without really any IQ penalties. I think an M camera without a shutter would both lighten the M a little and allow great performance and higher shutter speeds which would allow people to shoot fast lenses wide open on sunny days. Going shutterless would also allow the camera to be silent which could come in handy in some situations. My best guess is the M12 or M13 (if they call it that) will have a stacked sensor and no shutter.

I have a bizarre theory, maybe Leica will introduce a body that doesn't suck for long exposures at high ISO!

1/8000s would be great but Leica has not found a way to overcome this limitation. Imo electronic shutter is not an ideal replacement due to the scan speed without a stack sensor. I would hate to see Leica removing the mechanical shutter in future models. Perhaps for SL line.

What’s next? Autofocus? 😅

@Fred Miranda@@

I’m with you on the M10-R. Will never change it for anything except if I want to go film.

I can think of only a couple of things that could enhance my experience.

1) mechanical shutter of 1/8000

2) a zoomable finder window. Like the XPro2 used to have. It would be awesome to be able to flip the switch in the front and instead of frame line previews I got a magnified window flip up so I

The concept is truly fascinating—a Leica M11 Charging Dock designed specifically to charge via the USB-C port:

I like it Fred. I haven't even unpacked my M11 charger. I charge exclusively through the USB charge port. I do run the cable out of an APC surge/battery backup block that also protects my RAID drive case, and other computer stuff. I don't want some electrical issue frying my camera while charging.

I also download my images through the cable most times, especially when traveling. My phone charger cable is the only item I need to bring and I always have that anyway. The M11 is the prefect no hassle travel camera.

Currently when at home I just use a small ballhead with a RRS clamp as a mount. It sits over in the corner of my computer station. My leather protector cover has a built in Arca Swiss compatible bottom plate so it is easy just to plug it in a let it sit safely there while I charge/download images. I can access images through my computer or my phone. A very convent setup. That includes editing and sharing through either device directly off the camera too.

Like I said, the M11 is the easiest to travel and live with camera I have ever owned.

stupid phone picture is sideways. Oh well, you get the point...

That works too!

When I owned the M11, I simply laid it face down on a soft felt surface for USB-C charging.
