Appreciate the write up. Not the X-mount version, but I had the E-mount for my Sony a6000 and it was my absolute favorite lens that never left the body.
Only pain was having to send it in via mail for a firmware update.

Only for the E-mount, right? I just checked and I have firmware 1.03 on my X-mount version which seems to be the latest.

I recently acquired a Zeiss 32/1.8 lens and am thrilled with the images it produces. I've always been a fan of the Planar optical design for Canon ZE and Contax models, so I'm delighted to have such a compact and lightweight option dedicated to Fuji. I also own the XF 35/1.4 but have not used it much after trying the Touit.
Very nice! Its a nice compact AF 30ish mm lens. Little heavier than XF 35/1.4 and a little bigger but barely ( about the same length once that XF 35/1.4 barrel extends out ) and it feels very solidly built.
I really like the IQ and rendering of the Zeiss and for me I find the AF speed just fine. I am taking mine on my upcoming trip because I would like to have one small AF lens with me to balance out my manual CV lenses and the nifty fiftyish EFL is my number one FL anyway.
Interesting to hear that about the XF 35/1.4...I did not own both at the same time, though I wish I had so I could see which I actually preferred. I will say that I was not a fan of the extending barrel of the XF 35/1.4 but that is purely just a preference thing.
Perhaps some day you can do a head to head shoot out and assessment of these two, that would be interesting for sure. Also, the Zeiss 50mm/2.8 macro Touit for X-mount is pretty phenomenal as well...try it some day if you have not already. It doesn't hurt that these lenses can be quite the bargain these days...at least on the used market. The ones I picked up seem as though no one ever used them.
BTW, 1.03 is the current firmware and yes the X-mount variant of this lens can be updated via the body. I'm not sure why the E mount version has to be sent in but anyways its not the case for X-mount.

Ah, didn't realize that it was just a E-mount thing. Looking it up, the firmware update was to add support for "phase detection autofocus and the fast hybrid autofocus of newer Sony E-mount cameras."
I mean, it was just a one-time thing and their service center was very good about it, so no big deal. Otherwise, yeah, probably my favorite lens I had ever used across my Canon, Sony, Leica, and Fuji bodies.

Cool, so it seems I have the latest firmware. I was expecting bad AF performance from this lens but I'm quite surprise by the level of accuracy even using Eye-AF (tracking).
I have both Fuji 35/1.4 and Zeiss 32/1.8 lenses, and when I hold them side by side, they feel similar in weight and size. I'm interested to see how they stack up in a comparison. I'll share my findings here. Despite enjoying the rendering from the Fuji 35/1.4, I personally prefer the Zeiss just for the OOF character.

Revisited this lens recently on a spring trip to "The Japans". It was the only AF lens I took and it made for a really convenient walk-a-bout lens on an X-T5 due to its compact size. Very happy with the beautiful rendering, sharpness at its max aperture, really nice falloff and equally nice bokeh

Sigh. I was literally one day late. Been looking for another. Checked the day before and the day after but not on the day you posted. Sigh.
Yes, that's exactly why I posted it here. I know how hard it is to find a good copy in mint condition. It took me quite a while to track this one down. If I come across another, I'll update this thread. This lens was my personal favorite out of all the X-mount options.

I ended up buying another one. This one is sharper at the edges than I remember. It may not be, but I'm going to tell myself I got a good one. :-)
Center sharpness is good. AF performance is good (not stellar). The manual focus experience is good, much better than my Fuji XF 50mm f/2 which requires me to turn, turn, turn, turn, the focus ring.
I'm thinking of doing a write-up comparing the Touit 32mm against the Voigtlander 35mm. Test shots so far are giving some interesting differences but I want to refine my process to ensure that the differences I'm seeing are due to the lens, not the image processing.

I absolutely love my Touit 32/1.8. I have the Sony version for my A6700. Love the rendering and overall IQ of this tiny lens. If I'm buying into a Fuji interchangeable APS-C (I have the terrific X100VI), I will definitely get the Touit. Excuse the A6700 shots with it.

The Zeiss look is unique on Fuji... clean, sharp and great micro contrast. The Fuji 35mm f1.4 is unique in that it brings out the film simulations in the camera better than most while being sharp and clean. I have both in my bag. For people and black&white; I use the Zeiss. For landscapes and nightscapes; I use the Fuji.
p.3 #17 · Revisiting the 32mm Zeiss Touit Fuji x mount
After comparing the Fuji 35 f/1.4 and the Zeiss 32 f/1.8 I found the Fuji was more interesting wide open. It gave a varied OOF background where the center was more blurry than the edges. A sharp subject against that varied background was quite interesting. But from f/2 on, that effect went away and the Zeiss looked better with slightly stronger contrast in both the in and out of focus areas. The Fuji was sharper corner to corner for landscape shots but that extra sharpness doesn't bring much benefit in the full image when viewed at a normal distance.

Thank you, Rick, and glad you liked it. I don't use the Touit much anymore, so toy with selling it. Then I revisit some of the images taken with it, smile, and decide to keep it.
