Wonderful set. Thanks for all the info about these. Everything about these creatures is terrifying to me. Still you got excellent shots of them. TFS The last shot is a really beautiful scene.
Fabulous images and back story Joshua....one of those creatures I'm dying to see....well not actually to that extent so if I ever get the chance I'll remember to stay out of bite range.
Eric
Joshua these are beautiful images. Thanks for the story as well. You are a brave guy I would want way more lens for that kind of creature. If memory serves these guys guys can weigh in at a couple of hundred pounds.Your eye level perspective gives these images a powerful feel. I can still remember seeing one of the Komodo dragons featured in a James Bond movie dragging some guy off. Glad that wasn't you.

Joshua - Great information. I had no idea that they were that big and could move that fast. Love the shots, the low angle is spot on. The first time I looked at them all I noticed was the saliva and the tongue. Then I looked again and I saw the massive claws. Those are intimidating ! Looks like he was locked onto you in the first three images. Really enjoyed these shots.
Greg
Greg, thank you very much for your kind words! I am glad you like’m.

Super nice work Joshua. #3 & 7 are the standouts for me. Even though I have watched numerous documentaries on these critters, I enjoyed reading your narration of them.
Pink sand? I wish I could see it as it must look cool.
If it weren't for the crowd of people you described, it would of been super nice to see a animalscape shot of a dragon on a beach. But hey, I guess that's what all that new PS AI trickery stuff can be used for right.
Dave
Thank you very much, Dave! Yes, the beach was quite cluttery although I could have cloned out a lot things… Maybe later if I have more time to do so.
The pink color of the sand in that area is definitely rendered more intensely in contrast to the dark colored rocks. I climbed up to the rocky overlook to the left of that view and I took some shots of the beach from there. The pink colors are there but for sure less intense than what I posted

Joshua, the komodo shots shots are fascinating - and you were a lot braver than I would have been!
Love the pink sand shot.
Thank you very much, Patrick! I wouldn’t dare to do it by myself, and the mere presence of the ranger helped quite a bit.

What an excellent set of images documenting your experience with these creatures. I don't think I could have stood my ground in the face of this type of beast. And what a great looking in #9.

Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment, Eric! It is worth visiting that island to see them in real life. Yes, their saliva is venomous…

Last image is serene, just beautiful and a great comp and presentation.
