The water is beautiful Ross!
We love the Asheville area very much......
When I was a lot younger, I took a Spring hike on the PCT, Pacific Crest Trail from N.Cal to Crater Lake...it was still June and much snow. Loved it!

Fabulous work Ross. I must say I found the one of the tree in front of the waterfall quite jarring. My mind expected to see a smooth calming waterfall scene and the tree in the middle totally distracted me from that, creating a great deal of tension. Not saying it's good or bad, just reporting how I saw it as I thought the effect was quite interesting.

Thanks Derrick! I agree that the foreground tree adds a sort of tension, a dynamic. I like that it brings some visual depth and contrast, a sense of lushness, and also tells a story of a tenacious tree hanging on to mostly rock with its exposed roots. I tend to think of composition on any given scene as having not just one right answer, but multiple possibilities that each have something desirable. When I return to this falls in autumn I will likely see it in a different way compositionally as I seek to expand on what I’ve shot before.

Thank you Dan! Your past PCT trip must have been epic!
I do love the Blue Ridge area near Asheville and usually go there, but this trip opened my eyes to what the more northern section of NC has to offer - all of it is wonderful.

It was. The weather was perfect. Did run into some snow here and there but all-in-all, an excellent adventure. Saw much wildlife! They saw me I saw them and we both moved on...thank heavens!!!
The further I got into the Cascades, the heavier the snow on the mountains was.
Have a great journey!
