Was "recruited” today for a Senior Softball team, after their game today. I think their minimum age is 70–so some of them refer to themselves as "Second-Semester Seniors"!
I explained a few of my weaknesses: I was never more than a journeyman Div III athlete, and that nearly 60 years ago; I have terrible depth-perception now, on account of the vision in my left eye is about 20/250; I can barely throw underhand with my "good" arm (left) from a bad rotator-cuff injury repaired poorly, in 1964; my running speed is especially slow since my twin hip replacements in 2014; and my idea of an intense cardio-vascular workout recently has been a slow 4-5 mile walk with my dog.
But it turns out I can still hit a little bit and catch the ball semi-reliably. Also, they are REALLY desperate. I start Thursday at first base, with "courtesy" pinch runner when I bat!
More interestingly to you all, no doubt, is that I took a few pictures today of some of the players. These two were of the opposing pitcher. I am impressed by this guy's apparent seriousness!
Best to all...
