Looks like a DX corollary to the 40/2, which I like quite a lot on my Z6ii. This on a Z50 or Zfc is a great compact alternative... but of course it would be even more charming if the body had IBIS.

I really wanted to like the 26mm pancake, but having looked at a lot of sample images, it just seems unremarkable for the price. Nikon's 28mm was pretty decent in my experience, but I always wanted faster than f/2.8, especially on Z50.
I have also shot the Viltrox 23mm 1.4. It produced really nice image quality, however I didn't like the size/weight for the way I use the Z50.
This 24mm, however, seems to really tick a lot of boxes. Inexpensive, compact, f/1.7, and the few sample images from Nikon indicates a lot of potential.
Along with a 35mm version, I'd love to see a 17/18mm option as well! ...Show more →
Yup, they do, and they're great (I'm testing them rn for Wirecutter). But they're twice as expensive as this new Nikon. Full metal build, slightly faster max aperture, but not sure the 23mm at least will be worth the price premium.
Bokeh looks better than it should be for this class of lens. Really...not bad at all. Quite good actually. I mean, yes I'm going to buy it I think I'm done convincing myself.
