The above two were taken with a drone during the summer of 2020 when we had Iceland to ourselves (it was the pandemic year). Last summer I went there with the 🚁 and we landed it right on the lawn outside the Inn, a stone's throw from the church. See attached snap.

The signs of volcanism are present throughout the island. There are older areas such as the Westfjords that are currently dormant but the rest is active. When you land in Iceland at Keflavík International Airport, the first thing you will notice as you get out and drive towards Reykjavík is the presence of lava all around (the recent 2 eruptions were within a stone's throw of the airport). The road cleaves through the lava field and it is lava all the way almost until you get to Reykjavík. Lava is ever present in Iceland. Hope you can cut a trip here some time.
