Inauguration of a new series on Hornstrandir. The first instalment features Ađalvík bay photographed from the helicopter.
The far-flung Hornstrandir peninsula in the Westfjords of Iceland lies just below the Arctic Circle. One of the last great wilderness on the planet, it is now a protected area.
Wow! Incredible light and scenery. I have been on a small plane or helicopter to shoot some aerial photos, but nothing came right. I envy your aerial photos. They are extremely clean and beautiful, Rajan! The third is my favorite.

Thank you, Kee Woo. Given the caprice of Icelandic weather we are happy if we simply return from a photography flight with images but to get this kind of light feels like a miracle given the improbability of it coinciding with the time of the flight.

Great shots with wonderful light. I assume you are in a plane, not flying your drone. Are you a pilot or have a friend who is?
Thanks, Jim.
These are taken from the helicopter (once you get used to shooting out of the 🚁 you don't want to go back to a plane). I charter these flights. The guy running the Heli company (he's the pilot, too) is my friend.
wow, number 3 is an absolutely spectacular image. I don't have a concrete reason, but I feel like it would make an awesome square composition as well. all look great!

Brian - Thank you; very good suggestion about the square form factor.
