THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP.

I noticed that we don't share pics on these threads.... where are all the pics !!!! . For instance, I want to see your safari pics, man... those are SERIOUS lenses ! WOW.

If you are going to keep the RF 70-200 f/2.8 make sure to get the 50mm hood for it as it reduces the size quite a bit. You can see a photo of mine here on page 17 of the safari thread:

As for battery life, I shoot my R5's with the LCD closed in the back now 90% of the time. I only open it when I need it for something and I find that helps with battery life. When you want to review images just do it through the EVF which is easier to see in daylight anyway.

Thank you VERY much again for the great tip !

Another tip for battery life is to run the camera in airplane mode. The WIFI/Bluetooth etc drain things fast even if you are not connected. So shut them off if you aren't using them, which is what airplane mode does. Like ArtSupreme, I run either the evf or the rear screen and also shut off image review. That makes the battery last a lot longer, but still not DSLR territory.

Believe it or not, I still have not edited my Safari photos. I have been so swamped with other shooting and non stop travel that I have not dug into my Safari photos yet. This is actually a good thing for me, because I'll get to re-live my Safari all over again. I should have time in a couple months and I will post them on the Safari thread when I start digging in.

I know how it is. I still have about 8 african safaris to go through.

There is no such thing as one lens with the shooting envelope you have.

To keep cost down, I'd get a Tamron or Sigma in EF mount + adapter to use for sports, and then something like a Canon RF 35/1.8 or 50/1.8 for available light stuff.

6400 shouldn't be too hard on even a semi modern ff camera. Post if you need help. I've used 6400 on 18 and 24mp, usually pretty easily, more or less. R6II should be 1.5-2 stops better

Lots of relatively inexpensive EF lenses to adapt. Not many that could be considered good for sports are lighter than the rf 70-200/2.8 though. 135/2 is lighter though. If you are panning in low light one with IS could be a great advantage
