Great thread and some very fun, interesting captures. And great title!
Is this one rodeo or a compilation? I trained horses through undergraduate and graduate school and was bucked off many a time. Fortunately, never seriously injured. I only competed in one rodeo, in the bareback. And, much to the protest of his mother, my son competed in bull riding for a couple years. Fortunately, he then decided on a different direction for a career.
But I know a little about the lifestyle. It is, with little question in my mind, the most dangerous, demanding, underappreciated sport of all.
Thank you all for your comments. Matonanjin, I shot these at two events but most were at the Bucking Horse Sale and Rodeo in Miles, Montana. It is often a place for those starting out in rodeos, both cowboys and horses. It is as you say, in my mind too, one of the most dangerous, demanding, and underappreciated sports and one of little compensation. I always wonder why they take on such sports but I know too that there is the lore, pride, and desire to be a part of a lifestyle that drives them. I admire them greatly.
