Found three different nests this spring. These are from two of them over a 2-3 week time frame, different days and times of the day. C&C welcome. Thanks for looking. John
John I have to tell you owls are my favourite things to shoot, and this batch are beautiful. The nice soft light brings out wonderful detail and sharp as a tack. I love how in #6 you timed the light just perfectly to get it into the tree. This requires a lot of hanging around. 7 with the two owlets is great, but 5 with mom behind them is super special. Love them all.
Stunning….I’ve not been fortunate in seeing a GHO for quite awhile and am jealous with both the opportunity and the photographic results! Well done u!

Listen to what they are saying my friend ........ this is a magnificent set of images and your presentation of them is top notch
1The side lighting and contrast of the first is stunning!
2Nice golden light and the little one blends in except with those gazing eyes!
3Nice contrast between Mom and little one, she looks menacing
4Just missed feeding time it looks like
5What a classic, this is a winner winner!
6Intense, all face coming at me, love it
7Those two look like comedians Nice handling of the highlights here
8Man that one gets my attention

Dave, much thanks for your kind comments. Like you I enjoy owls ( all owls ) . GHO have beautiful coloring and detail all over making them one of my favorites. Last spring I had two nest I was looking forward to shooting ,and both failed. This year I put extra time and effort searching for additional opportunities. Lucky for me a fellow photographer shared info on a couple of possibilities that produced results. I got to spend a few spring evenings with one particular mom and chicks. Most if not all were shot with R5 and 500 f4 + 1.4 extender and heavily cropped. Glad you liked them

1, 5 and 8 are my picks John. I love that family portrait. It is lots of fun following a nest and you got to follow more than one :-} Super work.
Morris
Hi Morris. Thank you for your compliment, much appreciated. I always enjoy finding out which images people like best, thanks for sharing yours. Many times I am surprised by the difference in what I think is best and the ones others like.
I got skunked on snowy owls this past season, so it felt good having a choice with the GHO's. You are right it was very enjoyable following these owls. I look forward to spring every year.
