p.3 #1 · Close-up Mod - Leica Summilux-M 35mm F1.4 Steel Rim reissue lens
Does anyone out there know of anyone offering a conversion for the Steel Rim to reduce the MFD? I am really excited by Yuri's work, but unfortunately not handy or confident enough to undertake such a feat myself.

It worked out wonderfully. It ended up he just needed to tighten a couple screws after making the mod and it was good to go. I received it back a few days ago and it's excellent!
He reduced minimum focusing distance to around 31" (~.79m). At 31" it front focuses ever so slightly, but from about 31.5" inches onward the patch lines up pretty perfectly. Very happy with it. He said he'll probably do a blog post on it this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Last month my Leica 35mm f/1.4 Lux pre-ASPH "Germany version" was modified to focus down to 0.62m, which is the rangefinder limit. So now I can just move the focusing ring to the new MFD, align the RF, and get sharp focus at that distance. It's even closer than what I had with the 35/1.4 Lux SR reissue at 0.75m.

Where did you have this done at Fred? I am highly interested in a .62 MFD!

Unfortunately, this was a fun project for someone and isn't offered as a service. That said, it's totally possible for someone or a lens tech to do. I can post images showing what needs to be done. Is that something that interests you?

Yes, extremely interested and would appreciate images of the procedure. It remains one of my favorite and most used lenses even after some years. I just had it out tonight on a hike.

Beautiful!
I agree, it's my favorite 35mm lens from Leica as well. Instead of posting images of the mod here, I started a thread with more description and plenty of images. You can see it here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1954566/
