Last week I visited one of the Blue Heron nesting grounds locally and quite a few of them were nesting; as I was watching them, one pair caught my eye. The pair were very playful, flirtatious, almost seemed like they were poising for me. I watched and photographed them with enjoyment with an ultimate surprise.
I've had the pleasure of watching a ~250-nest rookery from afar since mid-March but only seen a few of these behaviors by chance when looking through the spotting scope.
It is an absolute treat to see what you've shared here. I'm amazed at their antics, especially balancing on that seemingly flimsy nest perched atop that pole.
