Hi all, below I have a series of portraits I took of fisherman working at Karachi Fisheries in Pakistan. I was able to go early morning for one day earlier this year as part of a short trip to the city and was happy to get so many images that I liked. The morning marks the time where the fishing boats are coming in to the port and unloading, so there is a lot of activity even at daybreak. This series is a follow-up to my last thread from Karachi here:

Wonderful portraits - great subjects too.
Hope you were able to provide the subjects either a hard copy or digital - something to treasure.

Thank you. For some reason, there isn't much interest in a digital copy and rarely the subject will want to get a copy via WhatsApp. Providing them with a hard copy is something that I have considered and I have seen local photographers do this on their IG pages with good results. So far, I haven't come up with a good solution given that I am only in country for short periods infrequently and have to hope to find them again in very crowded areas. It's not impossible since some people tend to hang out in the same spots and if you show someone's picture they might be able to get it to them. It would be really nice to make it work.
Try YOUR own style! Just because some "named company" attaches their subject to a method of photography, doesn't mean it is worthy!
While in SE Asia for 2 years, the fishermen were some of the hardest working people of that Country. They provided the substance that kept people alive, along with rice!

Lovely. Some very genuine expressions. Obviously you are having good interaction with the subject.
Nice amount background separation w/o losing the subject focus or without making them floating heads. I always like some hint as to what as to the context/environment even when having a bokeh background and you nail that.

Thank you very much. I think having a maximum aperture of 2.8 helped me not go crazy with the DoF, though I was absolutely very intentional with the angle of the subject to the background when I could control that. Glad you like the results.
Great images! The hats befit the ethnicity of the men wearing them! Not sure a white westerner would look good in one! But heh! I am heading down the last trail of life so I may me olde but I can be bold!
Thanks!
