I recently posted a set of my great-niece on her Make-A-Wish trip to Disneyworld (she was diagnosed a year ago at age 2 1/2 with brain cancer, original post is here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1797108) and as I continue to edit the images I wanted to share with you all more of this remarkable human from that trip last month.
In the final image, I had babysitting duty while the family was checking out of our villa on the last day, and I was keeping Abigail entertained by a clown statue on the grounds. When I turned to her with my iPhone and said, “Abigail let’s do a selfie together” she immediately pulled in close and hugged uncle’s neck, and in an instant my eyes welled up with tears and I fought back the ugly cry, just at the sheer overwhelming joy at being given the stamp of approval by this innocent and discerning little one. To feel her love in that moment, well, it was one of the greatest moments of my existence.
