Here go a few more great grey owl images shot recently. Love these birds.

1) Captured literally hundreds of perched shots. They were easily found by the roadside and are a very approachable species.
A1/200-600

All that follow shot with Z9/400mm 4.5

2) Low level glide. When they switch perches the often swoop down, glide across at low level, then flare up to land on the new spot.

3) Or sometimes they just fly straight across.

4) Hover.

5) Straight on shot is hard to beat.

6) I'm always amazed at how small their bodies are making the head look disproportionately big and legs look way long.

7) They're tough to spot when sitting in the aspen trees.

8) A nice look at how large the wings are.

9) Another head on shot.

10) Bank shot.

Awesome Dan. What is your nightly B&B rate? I will even skip breakfast.

Down here, Barred Owls often hunt along the roadsides. Unfortunately, the high number of vehicles results in many of the owls being hit and killed.

Thanks for commenting, Tony. Unfortunately these weren't shot around home. Yes highways take a toll on wildlife. Many species are drawn to the open space for various reasons.
