Last week, I had the opportunity to explore the Canadian Rockies, driving between Canmore and Jasper National Park. The winter scenery was breathtaking, with snow-covered landscapes as far as the eye could see. While I did visit (and previously shot) some classic spots of the rockies like Abraham Lake and the mountains in Banff National Park, this time I wanted to capture more intimate shots that would showcase the true spirit of winter (snow, snow, and some ice, then some more snow).
Here are few of my images I shot (mostly) along highway 1a heading towards Jasper National Park.

Wonderful set. As a skier I love pictures of pure untracked slopes and have many similar shots. Like others I like #7, but give #6 equal +. The ice is nice also.
Nice imaging Greg. I think all the snow mound images have too much contrast applied. Still, it is an artistic decision, I just think they should be softer in DR.

Yes, that’s true. But I did soften them and they didn’t have this nice striking effect. They looked rather pale and just ordinary, you know, nothing special about them. I wanted them to be dramatic. And, I actually pulled down contrast
Originally they were more contrasty. I actually didn’t use contracts much, more the hazy removal slider in Lightroom. But we all have our tastes, of course. Still this is a nice and healthy conversation. Thx!
