So I recently returned from a trip to Death Valley National Park (DVNP). Although it's now a bit pricey, it's still a beautiful place to visit (specially now). I explored Furnace Creek and searched for standing water near Bad Water, but unfortunately didn't find anything extraordinary. The dunes were stunning, especially during a sandstorm, and I was able to capture their silhouette at sunset. On my way to Sierra Nevada, I came across a breathtaking sight of a huge moon rising over a few isolated Joshua Trees, and I was particularly drawn to the solitary tree and moon near the horizon under the cold evening light.
The Alabama Hills didn't disappoint either, with perfect conditions for sunrise photography, and I was able to capture Mt. Whitney in a stormy/foggy weather.
The shot of the Bristlecone Pine was taken some time ago and I recently processed it, so I wanted to share it with you.
The pine forest in the image is from Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. I zoomed in to compress the foreground and background, creating a flatten space between myself and trees. This allowed me to capture as much snow as possible in the air, giving the image a dreamy, painterly quality....
Any thoughts?
Top notch work as usual Gregg! The compressed comp of Banff pines in snow is definitely a prize winner in my books. The Bristlecone Pine is one of the best night shots I've seen on that subject - and interestingly (at least for me) I prefer this without the MW. Dave
Gregg, always love looking at your images. The sand dunes image is spectacular. Love how you are able to create images in difficult conditions (wind and snow). Fantastic set as usual and it definitely deserves my vote 👍🏻
Thank you all very much. I’m happy to share them with you. hopefully I’ll inspire some of you to go and shoot :-) Death Valley is really a good spot to go now. The temp is ideal for shooting and walking around the place. And, Sierra Nevada is also a place to hit now, with so much snow. I think CA got this year (in just January) more rain/snow than in the entire last year!
A wonderful set Gregg. However, the third image is great to the second power. An amazing image. You captured everything. The pattern of the trees and the snow? storm.

Whoa, excellent series. The sand dunes image is my favorite.
Thanks Tuan. Funny, I thought no one would care about that image because it's very "plain". I like it myself, but didn't think people would pay any attention to it.
