Certainly not the best examples of what the lens can do, but I’ve been enjoying it. My color swapped m11 doesn’t arrive until tomorrow so wanted to be sure we got at least some maternity shots in case she went into labor 😂. These are adapted to a stock A7RV with a cobalt film emulation on them.
I preferred it to my FLE in probably 80% of my comparison shots, which is really saying something. The only question now will be to keep this one or the 40 1.2.

Great shots! Did you prefer it to your FLE for its smoother rendering and softer textural treatment? Also, the 40/1.2 vs 35/1.5 is a good versus—was there myself

Fantastic photos, thanks for sharing. Yep, looks like any time now!
That is exactly where I'm at - I have 40/1.2 and would like to swap it with this 35/1.5 simply for handling, size and weight.
But not having one, I cannot tell if it would be good choice, giving away 40mm.
Could you share a photo of that lens on your camera? I like to see Voigtlander lens on Sony bodies

Thank you. Yes, I think smoother (especially out of focus areas) is a good way to put it. Outside of the pictures, I also really like the size and weight of it.

I just got the 40 to compare it with. If I kept the 40 1.2, it might replace the 35 1.5 and the 50 1.2. I also have the 28 II, but the gap from 28 to 35 is quite small. However, the 35 1.5 is a fantastic size for the IQ. I plan to play with them on the m11 and see how they feel.
Sure here is a quick photo of the lens on a A7RV. Pardon the soft focus, I just used the back screen of an A7C to focus and take this quickly.

Looks really nice, such a small lens on that RV
Is that Voigtlander adapter or different brand?
Keep us updated, I would like to hear what you decide - keeping 40/1.2 or 35/1.5. Its a close call, but cannot decide myself what to keep

Yes very small. That is a Techart LM-EA9 - highly recommended.

Just a quick example, this one is very not technical as this out of focus area is through a window, and adapted to a stock Sony sensor. But helps to convey the differences I saw. FLE at 1.4 and CV at 1.5. Pretty minor, but I prefer the CV here. But that the CV can even compete with the FLE is impressive.

Brought the m11 with me to target. I think I prefer the images from the cv 40 1.2 more, but prefer the size/weight of this lens.
What are you guys coding this lens as on your M cameras? FLE?
I'm in the same boat, Ive gotten so used the CV 40mm F1.2 that I ended up giving up the 35mm F1.5 II because it made little sense to me. Now, this has opened an internal dialogue whether I should invite the 28mm f2 Ultron into my bag. The 35mm has a very, very similar rendering as it's 50mm f1.5 ii MC brother, lovely. Im just having a hard time giving up my 40mm f1.2 so for now I'm staying put.
I only have 40/1.2 now, but would love to have few more.
I was thinking 21/3.5 then either 40/1.2 or this 35/1.5. Longer ones are just too big for me and I want to keep it all small. Would 21+35+50 be good combo? Or would 50 be not necessary, with 35 being more important? 21+35 would be enough I think.
I think I just have to let my all CV40 lens go, these are just too heavy and big. I want to go sub 200g all the way!
This new 35/1.5 sounds so amazingly compact and light. I don't think I would miss 40/1.2 IQ, that new 35 is fine fine little lens, what do you guys think?

These examples show exacly the harsh bokeh of the FLE against the smoth one of the new Nokton, which
I saw and mentioned in Fred's review some pages before ...

How do you compare this lens to the cv 35mm 1.4 ii (sc or mc) in terms of rendering?
That's a specific character lens in my opinion. Had it for one day and compared it with the Nokton 1.5 and FLE. Fred could probably put it into words, but here are a couple examples.

I have the CV 28/2ii, and I think a 28/40/1.2 or 28/50 combo is wonderful. I’d take a 35mm as a stand alone, or a 35/75 combo.
Thank for sharing that. My options being played in my head are as follows:
*Keeping the 40*
28/40/75
40/75
*Selling the 40 & keeping my small Nokton 50mm f1.5 II MC panda*
28/50/75
35/50/90
I have been using my 40 F1.2 as my wide 50 or short 35mm. It sandwiches itself nicely in that spot, a lot of people shy away from it due to the lack of frame lines but I have gotten so used to it and can easily compose a frame, plus on my SL2s is a beautiful combo.
Here is a sample of the 40mm f1.2 , shot on my M10.

Thanks for the pictures. I can see the special character of the 35mm 1.4 ii.
Another 40/1.2 lover here tempted by the 35/1.5 mostly due to its size and (mostly) weight.
Went for the type I aluminium considering the weight even, can't wait to check it out in my hands. I really like how compact it looks, tried a 35/2 Ultron at a shop and quite loved the size/weight, so I think it'll be a tough duel - which to keep? I quite enjoy the 40mm FOV and how it renders, but the weight while shooting has been a bit of an issue (covid messed up my elbow joints, bizarrely).
I have been reading criticism of how the lens renders in the midframe area, which is kinda soft indeed on some examples... but haven't found a direct comparison yet between it and the 40/1.2 to help with the decision.
