Today I did some tests with the focust stack function on the a7rV but after some tests with the lenses in my possession I discovered that with the 14gm ,24gm,35gm,50gm, 24-70gm ,70 200gm it doesn't work, it only works with the 12 24 gm, I have not tried with 100 400, 400 and 600 gm, the thing is very strange, perhaps a firmware update will be needed

What happens? The lens just doesn't focus? Do you get an error message?
Thanks
Simply if you focus on a nearby object it takes a series of shots that always remain on the same point of focus and no shots at infinity, it does not give any error. instead on the 12 24 gm the shift of focus works.

Are you using spot focus, zone, or does it matter? Curious because I am on the pre-order list....thanks

If it works similar to Olympus, it is not supposed to work with all lenses.
On the Olympus bodys I have had, they all worked with all lenses for focus bracketing, even Panasonic lenses worked fine.
Lens selection on Olympus was only limited to the built in stacking function, which Sony does not have implemented if I have read the specs correctly.
Guys, I just did focus brackets with a 14GM, a 50GM and a 70-200GMII. I am 99,9999% sure that it does work with any lens, and OP simply made some kind of error. Most likely choosing a focus point / aperture / step size combination where the camera doesn’t see the necessity to do a bracket. It often only takes 2 or 3 shots anyways, depending on the step size. I will only be able to check the shots later today, will get back to you.

From the lenses you mentioned I only own the 24GM and 35GM. Since I got my A7R5 a couple of days ago I just did a quick test and both lenses work for me just fine.
Maybe you focused on something really close, wide open aperture and set the steps to narrow, so it does not look like the focus really shifted that much?
I also tried my Tamron 28-75G2, that one works as well as the 2 GM lenses.

you're right it was just a matter of settings and aperture this and what happens with the 24 70 gm at f.11 this is the position of the camera this is the result

The vast majority of times I have an issue with a new camera it is a user error- me.
You may want to change your thread title, so others do not get the wrong idea in the future.
Thanks for testing. My a7rv doesn’t arrive until dec- and focus stacking is one of the reasons I am upgrading.

I have a button assigned to toggle AF to MF, which I use when focus bracketing using the RMT-B1PT remote. I suspect if it works correctly with the remote it should work fine with camera focus bracketing. Does the A7Rv have to be in MF mode for focus bracketing to work like it does with the remote?
