p.1 #1 · Hummingbirds, variety of flight and perched shots
Some hummingbird shots. All these should be new to this section of the forum.
Flight first.
1. Macro lens shot at 90mm
2. Most of the shots have this much detail if cropped heavily
3. Last flower in the line
4. Back stretch
5. Standard flight shot
6. Head on
7. I've gotten lucky and captured hitchhikers in flight on a couple different occasions (another shot from this burst was already posted in another thread)
8. Flower burst
9. Another standard flight shot
10. Free flight
Bird on a stick segment
11. Gorget
12. Preflight stretches
13. Green and orange (I posted a similar shot previously but this one is slightly different)

What an amazing set, all really stunning images !!! 4, 7, 13 and 16 really caught my eye for either the unique pose, the extra riders or the colors. All so very well done.

Enjoyed them all, the 4th is quite unique!
That single bird is the only one I saw do this over and over with these flowers. I believe the local hummingbirds don't have a long enough beak to feed on it the traditional way.

I particularly like the back stretch. An unusual pose.

Thanks, haven't seen that pose since and I've gone back to the botanical garden a few times looking. That one day I saw it over and over again so it wasn't an accident.
