This male merganser was bobbing his head up and down, while trying to impress a nearby female with his courtship skill. She didn’t show the slightest interest but instead another male merganser was approaching quietly from behind and “poked” him in the back. The surprised expression of the first male merganser was priceless! He launched forward but just slowly swam away as if nothing happened. This behavior would have been unthinkable among us humans…
