Thought I'd share a few Elk images from this season.
There is no sound on this earth more soothing yet exhilarating than the sound of a Bull Elk bugling and echoing through the mountains.
Moments in the field like that are why I love wildlife photography so much. It's good for the soul.
Wonderful set Dave. You caught all the clastic poses, some with lovely fall color. I liked seeing the stream crossings as I have not witnessed this and nobody else has posted photos of a stream crossing.
Really nice presentation Dave. Nice isolation in these, a great feel to the images as well, many with a nice 3D effect. I will have to experience this event someday, that time out in the fields is precious in todays chaos.
This is a fantastic collection of images, Dave! You obviously spend a lot of time with the elks and I 100% agree about the sights and sounds - there is nothing quite like elks bugling in the fog at sunrise when everything is so quiet and peaceful. YGMV.
Dave, These are fantastic ! Big bulls, bugling bulls, battling bulls, cows and adorable calves and all with great backgrounds. And my personal favorites, bulls with stuff hanging from their antlers. And I agree with you 100%, the sound of bugling bull first thing in the morning or late in the evening is one of the best sounds in nature. Great set and great presentation.

Thanks for the kind words Morris. I have many more to get through that should have a some nice autumn colors and some with heavy frost. Falling behind on my processing. The river/stream crossings are always high on my priority list.

Thank you Greg. I'm glad you enjoyed them. There is a much larger dominant bull in the herd, but he has a collar so I don't even click on him much. Certainly not worthy of posting hereon N&W.

Fantastic set of images, Dave! Seeing the Smoky Mountain elk is on my list.
Thank you. Come on down! You'll likely see some goofy looking guy there crawling around on the ground anywhere from Sept through Nov(ish).

Nicely done, Dave. Really like the way you included the surroundings,
Shibu
Thanks Shibu. I actually wanted to include more surroundings in a few of these but I had too much reach at the time. I've fixed that little problem now and just purchases an RF 100-500 to go with my 500 f/4 for those rare times when critters are a little too close.
