I wonder when Leica will release a firmware update for all recent cameras so the new lens' code will work...
No idea, but along that line of thought - with the recent re-releases, such as the 50/1.2 - how far back in the M lineup did the firmware update go? M10? Perhaps M240 is now a stretch? I'd be surprised if the M9 got an update.

Anyone get one of these yet?
I have a v2 (1992) , one of my most used and favorite travel lenses..Some very cool images on that FB group. I want one
That's a very late model. Is it German or Canadian?
My guess is that the new re-issued steel rim will yield results closer to the latest models with latest glass/coating and not the original steel rim, since that original glass and coating process is not longer possible. Either way, aesthetically it's based on the original SR version and the optical formula is the same for all versions since 1961.

Yeah, #36014xx, it's mint too (like butter)..I love it..It's German
That's great that you'll have your SR tomorrow. Looking forward to your thoughts.
Let me know if you decide to part with it

No, just the normal black body with the silver mount. That FB group is what prompted me to come back to this thread as I saw you posted your v2 shots there.

Very nice! I have one and it is one of the more delightful lenses I’ve bought in a long time. I didn’t know you could get a silver vented hood. I’m guessing a $12,000 limited edition hood?🤣

Is it a Leica hood?
Aside from the two black hoods supplied with the lens, if one wants silver, any third party hood with a 46mm thread would work on this lens.
