Wonderfully impressive images, Tyler! I enjoy them all but #2 and #7 do stand out for me.

Entertaining, artful and all very nicely presented. Really love some of the tight shots head on!
Number 9 is stunning. YGMV

Really special shots ! Great work. I don't know a lot about these birds but it's my understanding that they feed and are most active at night. Makes your shots even more impressive.

Thanks! I always find it interesting what photos resonate with people. I almost didn't include #7 in the set.

Thanks! I thought #9 would be a favorite for most. I have many more tight shots stashed in the archive.

No blind or camo required. These are wild. However the park is full of joggers, dogs, fisherman, sports, bikes, and everything else. They are used to people. Stand still on the shore long enough and they often close the distance to you themselves. Most of the usual egrets and herons will come within minimum focus distance occasionally at this location.

That is my understanding as well. I have not personally witnessed how active they are during the night since I can't photograph them at that time

The black crowned are usually only active first thing in the morning. They go hide in a dark roost for the day. The yellow crowned can be fairly active during the day. You can tell how light it is in the photos by how big the pupil are in their eyes in the shots. I have some shots not part of the above set where the eye is almost completely black.
