Late to the party and resurrecting an old post, but these photos are absolutely stunning.
I have a puffins/gannets trip to newfoundland booked for this July...and this makes me that much more excited about the shoot. Was this in Elliston? If so, did you find it difficult to focus on a particular bird because there were so many?
Happy to see a 600mm will suffice, with or without cropping afterwards!
They were captured in and nearby Elliston. It can seem overwhelming at first given the number and speed of the birds, but getting used to their habits and flight patterns makes it easier. A 600 is great, but you might benefit from a shorter zoom also. The puffins are curious, and it isn't uncommon for one of them to land within a few feet of the visitors on the mainland.

Thank you so much for the heads up and advice. I’ll be bringing my 200-600, and a second body for 70-200. Can’t wait to experience the chaos!
