Appreciate the discussion!

The interesting part is that this Nokton was a technical tour de force in its era but by today's standards is soft wide open with many imperfections not being corrected. These imperfections, especially the good amount of spherical aberration, contribute to all the characters some people value much .

Yes, indeed. If people don't see what the lenses did back then, they will move forward in ignorance of what came before them. It's an art form, not a surveilance technique. Room for all forms of photography.

After discovering Nikon Zf's Deep Monochrome, I have really enjoyed using this lens in B&W.

Excellent pictures you have in this thread! I really enjoyed these.

And on comparing them with those from the S21 Angenieux from the flickr album linked here I must say I prefer the Prominent's ones. Not completely sure if it is only the rendering or the photographer too, though....

I am glad you like my pictures.

The two lenses do render similarly - with similar amount of "nisen" structure and similar bokeh cateyes. The S21 seems to glow more and has lower global contrast. I wish I have both for comparison. With that, I am pretty sure I will get the Z21 and compare it to the Nokton.

Glad i stumbled upon this thread.

Its a very nice character lens.

In my locality there is a seller of the mint prominent lens with prominent to M adapter. Barrel looks really mint, according to seller the glass has slight haze only visible with bright torchlight, otherwise its clear.

How rare is this lens together with the adapter? And whether very slight haze is still worth to get (ard usd 750)?

Does the LTM nokton (chrome with black ring) really has the same optical formula as this prominent?

A Prominent-M rangefinder coupled adapter is $200 brand new on ebay. The ones without rangefinder coupling should be cheaper. You can take a look at the ongoing price for the lens alone on ebay to have an idea how much you should pay. I think the price came down a bit in the last couple of years. Hard to say about the haze because some can be cleaned easily but some just can't without damaging the coating.

The Prominent version is not super rare but the LTM version is that is why the high price on the latter.
