The countdown starts… 5,4,3
A good source of mine who in the past has been 100% unreliable has said this will be the first neon M6.
There will no longer be a need to cover up the red dot as the lime and fuscia stripes on the body distract from it.

I'm not sure what your point is. If everyone's experience is not to be taken seriously as you suggest, what's the point of posting anything unless you only want to hear what you like?
I think what was meant is that a person's personal experience should be taken into account vs the whole, ie statistically if there is 1 robbery out of 1000 people that pass a particular spot, the 1 person getting robbed will have a very different experience to the other 999. That does not mean that a particular place is statistically unsafe and nothing is ever safe. Even in your living room you can have a freak accident or an airplane can land on it. Or maybe you're in the middle of the ocean on a boat worrying about sinking and then parts of a satellite land on you. Doesn't mean people on boats have to spend their lives looking up. Anyway...we're getting philosophical now...

What happened to this thread?!. From M6 to L.A. walking, camera theft, and Chicago River large format and cell phone towers. Focus, focus....
You are right but 500 limited edition M6 are not really interesting

I apologize for leading this conversation even further afield than it already was. I used an M6 for many years, does that help to atone for my misdeeds?

Can you share anything about this project? (Genuine question from Chicagoan) disfromage wrote:
I know I'm a bit late to this discussion, but I thought I'd weigh. I have photographed extensively in several cities in the US with cameras ranging from 35mm (film and digital) to 4x5.
I did a 10 year project depicting the entire length of the Chicago River system which took me to many many neighborhoods ranging from very affluent to decidedly underprivileged. I never had an issue with anyone. I was only greeted with curiosity and interest, more so in the less wealthy areas. I was invited more than once to share a bottle of wine under the bridge by unhoused people.
I also did a project in partnership with Loyola University on the uses and ramifications of Eminent Domain. I worked in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit, and some smaller towns scattered about. Again, with never a problem.
I know that bad things happen—they can happen anywhere at any time. I say go out and make photographs. I agree with airfrogusmc, life is too short. But be careful and stay aware of your surroundings...Show more →

Right now i have silver chrome, black chrome and black paint film Ms. It is nice how the BP can brass, but the paint is too shiny for my taste. The black chrome is very workman like but the edges silver if used really hard for a long time. As the finish is applied over chrome over brass. The ideal would be a matt black paint that hopefully would brass. Maybe this is it?
FYI. black paint brassing is not a Leica thing. My old Pentax K2 film camera did that beautifully, as did my Nikon F, F2, F3. It’s just a big deal now because Leica is the only one still making cameras that can do that.

I hope your hope is well-placed! A softer matte black that would more easily wear to the brass would be great. But I expect we'll get the scratch-resistant M11 black paint.
