I'm looking to buy a film SLR camera again. My budget is 200-300. I have seen these on Canon's site and in some local shops. Which is the best bargain for the money? Don't need Autofocus or all those auto shoot modes, just need a good body thats adaptible to lenses and full manual.
All current Canon cameras have AF, auto modes and full manual. If you want a manual focus body you'll have to buy a Nikon FM3A, Contax Aria, Lecia R8 or Minolta X370. All 3 Rebels are almost the same with only a few bucks difference in cost. I'd get the lastest design, the Rebel T2. It's the same as the Ti but has E-TTL II in the popup! The GII has slower FPS, a darker viewfinder and a smaller LCD.
Thats it? Would you recommend just getting the GII out of the three? I don't really care if it has AF and all the extra junk just as long I don't have to use it.
I was looking at a GII for $200.00 with a 35-80mm zoom lens. Good price?
I've got a beat up GII that I keep in the bottom of my bag along with a two rolls of tri-x and two rolls of velvia. It's been blacked out with electrical tape and does get abused, but I've shot with it in the rain, dropped it and used it during night soccer (MF) with no problems.
It's a great little backup; for $100 you can't really go wrong.
