The old papermill in Ypsilanti is something I had my eyes on for a long time. The light needs to hit it just right to make the old weathered wood sign glow... Two days ago was that day!
This is my first post here - student from southeast Michigan! Thanks to everyone for sharing their pictures!

Great shot, and great first post!
Just a humble suggestion: the sky is already pretty dramatic, so it doesn't need to be overprocessed. Just dial back a bit on the saturation in that area (especially the left), and try to avoid the color blotchiness, and you'll have perfection. Looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you! You're right, it definitely got blotchy. I think part of it is the aggressive compression I had to apply (61MP 20MB file to 1.4 MB upload here!!), it looks somewhat better uncompressed. Will try to see what the it looks like more dialed back, thanks for the input fellow Michigander
Wow that is 'the light' you want for this setting and it is beautiful! Welcome to the forum, an excellent first post. I really like the look of the water first being calm and reflective then in motion coming over the spillway. The two door or windows with the amber glow are very nice on the structure. It's too bad on the graffiti but that's not on you and there is a minimal amount showing don't know it you had to clone some out?
Good catch on the sky by photonoclast, I was too wrapped up in the other goodness to notice it
Just one little nit from me, the car across the way .....grrrrr!
