I found a small patch of flowers just far enough off the beaten path to pretty much eliminate foot traffic. Being that this is not peak season I had to wait about 10 minutes in between the bird's visits to the flowers. The advantage of that is I had the spot to myself for the two hours or so I spent in that area. A few other photographers passed through, took a look around, and seeing nothing, moved on. All comments and critiques welcome. Thanks for looking !

Excellent set! That place is wonderful to visit!
It is a great spot. I bought a membership back in January when I visited then and I've been back to California three times since. I try to get there at least a couple of times on each visit because it's only 15 minutes away from my daughter's house. Always something to shoot.

I can't explain why, but in these photos, the bird/s seem so relaxed Gary!

Well I can't speak to that but I'm glad they tolerated the clickety-clack of my D500. I started out with the silent mode of the Z50 but that didn't work out well at all so I quickly switched back.

Awesome set Gary! I need to adapt your patience!

Thanks Greg. I don't really have any place near home where I can find hummingbirds on flowers like this so when I get an opportunity I tend to milk it a little bit I always think the good stuff is going to happen just when I leave. Not sure if that qualifies as patience

My daughter and son in law used to live in Northridge, about a 30 min drive to the Arboretum. They had to move due to a huge increase in their rent. Now they live in Santa Clarita, a much nicer place imho! Which is just a bit further. The Arboretum is always on my list of places to go back to.

You did well with both bodies Gary, focus and color is great and the subtle wing blur is calming in several. They are really beautiful images, nice
