We just got back from a Missoula trip and had spent a day driving up around Flathead lake with a lunch stop at Whitefish. I wish we could see the mountains, as you know, it was quite smoky this past week .

Yes it has been bad - 3 fires on the Rez this year
I guess you passed on Glacier - good call.
Come back in Sept - skies should be clear by then

Of course it does - I live on a Reservation.
There used to be 2 teepees - you can see another set of poles to the left. These were "icons" of this place for many years.
In July there were 2, then by Oct (this photo) there was only one, now there are none. One teepee was vandalized, another stolen. They will not be replaced. The times wee live in, I guess - sad.
