p.1 #1 · Think Tank Photo Urban Access 10 Sling Bag (Black)

I plan on ordering a 300 f4 next week and will need a bag to carry it attached to the OM-1 + mc14.

Anyone have experience with this bag? I have an original Think Tank retrospective 5 that I have enjoyed using for many years.

Thanks

p.1 #2 · Think Tank Photo Urban Access 10 Sling Bag (Black)

I use the TT/Mindshift Photocross bags instead, they are a somewhat similar design as the Urban Access, but are built a bit better for more rugged use. The bottom is a weathered sealed tarpaulin in case you put it down in the rain (or rocks), the zips are WS too and the fabric is weather resistant. Have had the Photocross 13 model for almost 4 years and added the Photocross 10 last year to carry my M4/3 gear when I want a smaller kit. The sling strap bottom cannot be attached to the other side like the UA though, it is fixed.

Right now I am using the Photocross 13 as my main bag for a 2 month trip to Thailand and it is the Monsoon season here, meaning it can rain every day for a bit. So far I haven't had to use the full weather cover yet and all has been dry in the few rains I have been caught in. Have the 17 & 45 f1.2 Pro primes with the 12-40 & 40-150 f2.8 Pro zooms along with a Laowa 7.5mm f2 prime and all fits fine with added items needed for International travel. Not seen in the photo below is the full width by 3/4 height front pocket where I keep lots of accessories: a small Manfrotto table top tripod, rocket blower, Leatherman, reading glasses, full length camera strap, small med kit, LED flashlight and LED headlamp, days snacks, extra face masks and the weather cover. Plus there is a good size water bottle pocket with drawstring on the other side. This has a cinch strap at the upper top of the bag, so a travel tripod can be put here and firmly held in place.

With the Photocross 13 you can mount the 40-150 f2.8 or the 100-400 zoom to a EM1.3 (or OM-1) body and both will fit vertically, that won't happen in the 10 model. The photo shows my 40-150 mounted to my EM1.3 and the lens has a 1" metal screw on hood attached. The 300mm f4 mounted will be about 1-1/2 of an inch taller and can't say for sure it would fit mounted to a body vertically, but for sure it would not with the MC-14 attached. It will fit though in either bag mounted if you place it horizontally and you still should be able to place a couple of smaller lenses underneath.

The only item I wish was improved is the padding on the sling strap, it is a bit thin. I added a $10 Velcro on padded strap 3 years ago and all is good. The bag is easy to carry and move around with in public or while getting in and out of taxis, doorways, etc. It has a teardrop shape and is not a boxy as the UA, and it slides forward easily to the front for security or to change lenses. Highly recommend the Photocross series!

Edit: One additional thing I should mention is it has an inside slot for a iPad or a laptop, you can see it in the photo. My new 14" MBP M1 Pro fits in there, just barely, as it was made for a 13" laptop. The 10 model has this slot too, but only 10" tablets/iPads fit.

I have the Photocross 13 backpack which will hold the OM-1, 300mm and TC.
I don't recommend slings because of the weight issue that can cause neck/back injury. The P13 backpack can slip off to be like a sling for lens changes, or so they say.

For me, slipping off the shoulder strap is not fun at all. It's quite clunky and hard to do quickly. Kind of like the straps are too short to loosen. So it's a "feature" I seldom use.

My bp doesn't hold the tablet/laptop size that is advertised, even when there is no laptop sleeve nor camera inside. So take the specs with a grain of salt.

It's the most uncomfortable backpack I have.

Unfortunately, I bought it online and sending these back is about $20, since I got it reduced for sale I figured it makes more sense to keep.

It works fine for carrying gear from the house to the car, but seldom is used in the field.

Hope this helps.

@BidinTime I have had the Photocross 13 for 4 years and the smaller version for about a year and though both are loaded I find both very comfortable. I have to ask, have you setup the bag properly? The strap goes over your head on rests on your left shoulder, the bag rests against you back right side and hips. It is a very simply matter to slide the bag around your right hip to the front and have it now be horizontal across your stomach. It doesn't "slip off your shoulder" as you mentioned. The zipper flap is now the top side and it is very easy to change lenses. When done, slide the bag back around your right hip to the carry position. You do need to adjust the straps to work properly, I don't have mine real tight, just snug, as then I don't have to loosen the strap to slide it forward.

See this short video at the 1:10 mark to see how is slides forward. He even has the waist strap on and it is quick and easy.

I have four TT back packs and roller bags and am looking for a sling bag. The PhotoCross 13 looks perfect, thanks for the good owner feed back. I am ordering one now. Think Tank makes great well thought out products. Perfect for my street photography or when on my bike.

TT has them in stock.

With a few weeks using this bag I am very happy with the ease of use, quality of the bag, and features.

I carry the Sony A1, GM 16-35, GM 24-70 II, GM 70-200 II, plus filters, camera strap, lens cleaning gear, plus a few personal items.
