The road to Artists Point above the Mt. Baker ski area opened last week. I was about to set up my camera to do a sunset time-lapse on Mt. Shuksan when I looked north and saw the clouds parting to reveal American Border Peak and Mt. Larabee. When I looked closer I saw a fellow photographer who seemed to be shooting a time-lapse also. His position on a ridge made him a perfect accent in my shot. A7rII + 24-105mm.
Thanks for the comments guys. The weather report was for clearing clouds, but I couldn't see any peaks when I first arrived. Broke up just in time for sunset.
Perfect encapsulation of the tonal range without a hint of HDR artificiality. The viewpoint from the slope all the way down to the valley below and the peaks beyond, along with the photographer (whom I did not even see at first!) really all brings home the scale. Just a wonderful image that pulls me in, makes me feel like/wish I'm there.
Normally I would have tried to find that photographer and given him my number so I could send him a copy of this, but he seemed to be parked lower down the mountain and I was too busy shooting to hike down to find him.
