This is cool, but it is one of the reasons that the Nikon Z-DX bodies are a liability for nature and sports photography. While I understand that they chose the battery to reduce the dimensions of the cameras, the reduction in battery storage is significant. If you live in a cold climate, your 300 shot limit drops to 200 or below.
I have been very interested in the ZF-c, but have resisted because the battery is different from my Z-II cameras, and very different from the Z9. While not as long-lasting as the Z9 battery, I can get close to 750-1000 shots out of my Z6II on a cold Minnesota morning.

My main reason to prefer the Z fc to Z50/Z6II was this possibility to powerand the camera and charge the battery by an external source.
As a wildlife and sport photographer, with the set up above I can shoot and film all day without interruption.
So far, only the Z9 and the Z fc can be powered by an external source.
Great shots! I realize the long focal length is at play in the fourth image, but it doesn't look so positive for the head poking out of the water on the bottom left .
The Nikon Z400mm f4.5 looks to be a brilliant lens, and pairs well with the Z1.4TC.
How about if Nikon would bring a lightweight D500 replacement to the Z mount?
That could make for an awesome lightweight reach combo
I've been super busy at work and didn't manage to get out as much as I'd like to recently. Gloomy days too (with yet another 45mm of rain by the end of Sunday), so just a bunch of chicken shots today.
Good walk today. Found a GHO and while it was pretty buried in the tree it was nice to find it and see it on my own without a crowd of photographers trampling each other to get a photo. Eagles, downy woodpecker - I'm happy with this outing overall.
