I took this in September with my little drone. I was glad that the lava was flowing, but it overflowed the trail and we could not get close, so my DJI mini had to fly quite a long way. After hovering too long over the lava the drone did get a bit toasted. It was able to fly back, but I later discovered that it could not focus anymore. I will have to say that the DJI refresh replaced the drone with no questions asked.
Thanks for all of the kind words. Here is the video that I took at the time. Not polished by any means. I had to edit since the drone wanted to keep coming back due to a lost signal. I just had to go higher and higher, but I finally reach the promised lava-land. At the very end of the video is where the drone got cooked, as I hovered and looked straight down. You can actually see that it is no longer able to focus. It also gave me a warning about being too hot!
