Superb set Dave. A few thousand photos is a post would be a new FM record.
Morris
Thanks Morris. Yeah, if I posted a thousand Fred would ban me for life.

It will be a while before that job is finished, but I hope it will not be never.

If you know of any abandoned quarries they are always worth a look for Peregrines and might be 'undiscovered' by other photographers.
Re: 'seeing them through'. I've just finished a three week stint with kingfishers - they fledged four chicks yesterday morning - though all my shots are of adults perched up bringing in food as the site doesn't lend itself to flight or diving shots. Hopefully the adults will go for another brood - there's enough time - and with birds from a previous brood around plus a couple of vagrants I might get some interesting encounters as a kingfisher pair will barely tolerate each other never mind 'outside' birds.

An amazing collection of shots ! #6 with the Tern is so unique and interesting. Really great work !
Gary
Thanks Gary. We got lots of shots this year with the Falcons carrying prey, sometimes pretty large birds.

Great series! I liked the Pelican attack. When they killed the Pelican last year, did they eat it?
Thanks for your comment.
The Peregrines have been pretty aggressive with Pelicans, Gulls and Osprey that come close to their nest. This year they were less aggressive, but still we saw many attacks. They are not attacking for food. When they killed pelicans in prior years it was because they get on their back or head and put them into a steep dive and they hit the ocean surface or the beach. That sometimes kills them. The Falcons are not interested in the dead Pelicans for food. Even the small ones are far too heavy to lift.
Wonderful set of images Dave. I had a similar "seeing them through" experience this spring with a set of Great Horned Owls. There is an additional connection one gets with the images you take when doing so.
Nothing short of amazing photography and a beautiful subject with intensity! Wait .... #8 that is a crazy looking two headed chick
#10 now that is something I wasn't expecting to see!
#17 now that is ATTITUDE!
Flight and food exchange shots are amazing Dave, what a series and earned may vote
Words cannot describe the beauty and exceptionalism of these images. The acrobatic skills of these birds are in full display in your images. However, your skills as a photographer and naturalist are also on full display. Your work is simply amazing - and inspiring!
At first I thought, wow, 100k shots is a lot. Then I looked at the images and it all made perfect sense. . Great, great series. Too many fantastic ones to pick favourites.
I am at a loss for the best adjective to describe this set as amazing, gorgeous , outstanding, seem lacking. Suffice it to say, I truly enjoyed each and everyone . Your time was well spent.

Torrey Pines is a good location. I plan to try again next year. You should give it a try.
