I'm holding off until we see an M-mount tested (you may be the first), but I am tempted to try to save the $50.

I will let you know. I will compare it to the Voigtlander 15/4.5 III and Leica 21/3.4 SEM which are currently my wide M primes. I also bought the Breakthrough 6-stop dark ND for the Laowa.

They've now corrected the pricing error.

The comparison to the CV 15 will be very informative. I like the idea of the Breakthough, but I think I'm going to stick with my Lee LF set for now. I mostly use the grads, and I'd rather handhold and "paint" with them.

The difficulty with the screw in 6 stop ND filter is being able to see through the filter for focus. Otherwise, you need to focus and then install the filter.

That is an advantage of a variable ND filter or one with a Polarizer built in, or one with Polarizer built in with a color intensifier as those by Singh-Ray. Or as Brad has suggested to use the drop in ND filters for something like the Lee Foundation Kit holder system.

Or even better - magnetics. Loving the Kase Wolverines.

Anyone taken delivery on one of these yet? Curious to see how you find it.

Bastian's review was very encouraging, but some of the reviews I've read subsequently seem to find the sharpness somewhat lacking.

Not yet. I bought a GFX 50sII, so my focus and money have been going to that kit. My feeling with the subsequent reviews is that copy variation is as high as expected, and I want to make sure I've got time to dedicate to testing out the lens immediately upon receiving it. So I'm shooting for the holidays or early January, when I know I'll have time for it and any exchanges necessary.

I already got the lens here in Thailand. I think corner sharpness is not good enough for high megapixel body. Manual focus are hard to judge because DOF of 5.6. But really like that it can take 77mm filter, good color and good sunstar.

Sonyalphablog release review of this lens and i mostly agree with the review.

Anyways, I've tried two copies of the Laowa 12-24/5.6 and was unhappy with the results away from center. None of the copies were centered either.

That's discouraging, but sounds about right. One of my coworkers is on his second copy now and, while a big improvement over the first, he's sending it back.

Oh, well. I guess it's time to start looking for another ZM 18/4 to round out my small kill for the a7rII mono.

Unfortunately, I had similar experiences with the lens. On my copy, the left side was clearly muddy. Otherwise, a nice, compact lens with super aperture stars and occasional hefty flares.
