I wanted to share this set of images of wild dogs from my recent trip to Botswana. They were not easy to find and I honestly didn't expect to enjoy photographing them as much as I did, and I think they are much more beautiful in person than I expected. Behaviorally they are quite interesting as well, I was in awe of the unity between the pack, and all of the complex audible to visual cues they use. I was very fortunate to witness them hunting, resting, and running from predators (lions).
For the trip I was using the Z9 and 100-400 and 800 S lenses. I never felt like they let me down. The gear was never a limitation only my ability to use it.
I'd be lying if I said it was easy, this was one of the tougher trips logistically and finding the animals, etc...the animals themselves travel long distances in a day and we went days without seeing them only to have them sort of turn up out of thin air. That's the dogs for you. But overall it was one of my more memorable photographic experiences.
