Early morning in the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone NP, January, 2022. Temperature was minus 23 degrees. Only short walks from the vehicle. Trigger finger was numb. Worth it.
On the artistic level, this is very effective at communicating the cold, even giving me the shivers in June. The standing trees act as a proxy for people and how cold they'd feel just out there with no shelter.
Extremely surreal and wonderful photo! Looks almost like a painting. Lots for look at too! Just an awesome shot Jeffrey. Definitely make a large master print of this one!

It's a strange phenomenon to see the mist, perhaps ice crystals, hanging in the air and diffusing the early low angle light.Then when the sun starts to break thru it's another wonderful event.
