p.1 #1 · Peach faced love birds - wild and a little history
These cute little love birds were once domesticated by someone in Scottsdale and Apache Junction in Phoenix, AZ. The story goes like this: The owner inadvertently left the cage open and these birds flew to the wild and now are considered a wild variety
This happened 30 years ago according to the locals here.
Cool story!
I have heard and seen pictures of these birds but this is my first time seeing them.
The light was a little harsh and backlit and my window of opportunity was barely 3 - 4 minutes and I came out with 100+ high burst images.
The other side (with sun behind me) was inaccessible... Another time!!!
All take in Gilbert Riparian preserve, Gilbert, Arizona.
p.1 #3 · Peach faced love birds - wild and a little history
What a lucky encounter! The name serves the subject well. That is unique coloring with that 'peach' face. I like the first one and hope you get a few more opportunities to photograph them again in the sweet light.
