These were taken on my last visit to Nickerson Beach, Long Island, NY about a week ago. The morning started with fog and the forecast was for severe thunder storms later in the day so I was on the look out for the front in the distance. All of these photos are taken near the nesting area which has been roped off and I've got my tripod set up low with me kneeling behind it just outside of the roped off area. My goal shooting from this position was to include the lovely environment in the images. There are about one thousand terns in the nesting area though that's a guess as I have not seen them all in the air. More may arrive while a few have started to nest.
Nice light Morris for this subject, the softened contrast is a blessing on these Terns. Both #1 and #3 are exceptional, nice shooting and presentation!

Thank you Karl,
I agree and I set up with a list of shots that I wanted to make in my had. You are seeing the best of the attempts.

Morris, these are impressive and lovely images at the same time! The fog makes it nice and diffused lighting. I like them all!

Thank you Joshua,
Terns are fast and maneuverable yet much more predictable than swallows. Ya, fog creates magic when you can see it.

These are lovely Morris. I'm sorry that the session got curtailed by rain — I would have loved to see more!

Thank you Ed,
I had 3 hours and with about a thousand subjects that was plenty of time, thus I have more I will share.

Morris very nice set, I'll say it again that 500PF is working well for you

Thank you Chris,
I'm thrilled with the results I'm getting with the 500PF. It produces a look that I've been able to take advantage of and the X-T3 with it's multiple film sims makes it even more fun

Very impressive set Morris, that soft light really worked to your advantage with these Terns.
Thank you Louie,
I was so happy to have the fog and the time to get out and shoot in it

Morris, Love the exposure. FUJI colors are beautiful. Would love to know the workflow when you get a chance. voted!
Thank you Sathsy,
Most of the work is before I press the shutter release as I used manual exposure and in some cases manual flash. By doing this the exposures are there and in post I crop in necessary, decide if I like the noise as it can add a wet feeling to fog. Once I make this decision, I duplicate layers in Photoshop and sharpen the background layer, usually with Sharpen AI and then tweak the sharpening a bit more with USM. If I like the noise I leave it, otherwise I use Neat image to remove it. Either way I erase the parts of the top layer where I want to reveal sharpens. For these photos it's usually just the birds. Then I flatten and save. Any questions about this?

Morris - You had me at the first image! And the rest are just as remarkable. Super nice job! Steve
Thank you Steve,
Imagine seeing this in real time!
Incredible shots! I am sure they deserve their own exhibition with the perfect lights from https://perfectpicturelights.com/https://perfectpicturelights.com/.
I would love to see them printed and to be able to see every single detail much closer. I have a lot of good shots from my last trip from Kruger park but none of them come close to your works.
