Err... almost 8 years ago when I visited Yosemite and did a small refreshing hike. Once done I was about to leave the valley to the hotel room and suddenly a big drama unfolded in the sky - what more can you ask for if it is combined with some beautiful wildlife?
I tried hard to reduce the saturation in the sky (the sky was violent and vibrant!!!).
Nikon D610 - anyone remember that - One of the revolutionary FF consumer level camera back in 2014 (I think)
Thank you Saaketh. I still vividly remember this scenery!!! I was like a kid running around and if you look at the EXIF I forgot to even set my F stop to a higher number. Lol....
Those are my stomping grounds up there in T-Meadows, and I can vouch for the intensity of the color when you get conditions just like those. The first one looked so familiar that I had to go look and see if I was actually there on that evening.... but no luck.

( literally recognize some of the rocks in the first photograph. :-)

Live images that bring us the real wilderness - nice micro-contrast (3-D pop) and well designed composition

Thank you Dan. You are so lucky to be living close by to the Yosemite T-Meadows. I can't wait to go back there again.

That makes two of us. On that subject, for anyone thinking of visiting this summer, things will be a bit... odd up there. The Park Service is doing a major reconstruction of the water system and the campground and it is closed for the summer. Basically, there are no places to camp in the park along Tioga Pass Road.
In addition, there are some new restrictions of visitors this year and a requirement that almost everyone actually get a reservation/permit to enter the park.
NIKON D610 24.0-85.0 mm f/3.5-4.5 lens 62mm f/4.5 1/400s 1000 ISO -2.0 EV
The window was really narrow for me. I would have ideally preferred to do multiple exposures and do exposure blending - in hindsight.
For the above picture, I got it into Lightroom classic and updated some curves. Selected the subject and brightened up a bit.
Dehazed (positive) the cloud a bit, reduced saturation (it was too saturated in its original form), reduced texture (to give a dreamy look to the clouds).
Global adjustments: Up the exposure a bit (since I was naiive to do a negative exposure compensation shooting the picture), up shadows a little bit.
You caught some wonderful photos up there. Great animal shots, I can't pick a favorite they all tell a story. Good job.
I do remember the D610, I broke my D600 late last year, bad move on my part. I replaced it with a D780. It's a good upgrade, just not on my schedule. My D600 was still a good machine, with a few sensor cleanings from the manufacturer.

Thank you @nmguy My D610 was part of the recall (I dont remember what). I ended up getting it serviced, sell and move to D750 only to quickly move to Sony systems. I still feel it is much easier working with Nikon RAW files. May be I am missing a technique or two with the Sony RAW
