p.1 #1 · Onondaga Bald Eagles + St. Lawrence Ospreys
Once one of the most polluted lakes in the U.S., Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, NY underwent a $1B cleanup and is now home to over 60 species of fish and a diverse wildlife. Over 100 bald eagles overwintered there and I finally decided to make the trip and check it out. Unfortunately, with winds from the west the eagles were catching fish while facing away from me; photo #6 below is what I was getting all day long. I definitely need to go back when the wind direction is right...
On the way home, I visited my favourite osprey nest on the St. Lawrence. The ospreys did not disappoint.

I don't need to see who's posting, as soon as I see the pictures, I can tell it's your shots. Amazing. love the color of the fish on #7. voted for sure.

Thank you, KD!! That perch was the ticket to a successful mating a couple of minutes later.

The osprey images seem to show more punch, maybe because the images were taken without the 2X TC. Regardless, all images are very impressive, Vladimir!

Thank you, Joshua! I think it's more about the lighting conditions - #1 was taken at ISO 5,000 and in 10 minutes I was at ISO 12,800. Gloomy overcast evening. For ospreys, I was shooting at around ISO 200 and the sun was hitting the ospreys just right. From an artistic perspective though, I really like the mood and colours of #1. By then, all the other photographers had left but I stayed and I'm really glad I did - technical perfection be damned.
