My wife and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary by going to Death Valley. I'm thankful she is willing to put up with one photographer's crazy obsession with visiting some new national parks just to be able to take a few pictures . I've been looking forward to DV for a long time largely because I've found a lot of inspiration on this forum of others who have gone before, so thank you all who have shared their pics.
Weather was ok overall and I didn't get to spend a ton of time there, but here's some pretty typical known shots I wanted to share. Feedback always welcome.

My wife is also a photographer, and I'm not sure I'd try to suggest a photography trip to DEVA as an anniversary trip! ;-)
(One positive note. I often photograph there on my own, and my approach is rather primitive — I camp, sometimes in pretty remote places, often by myself. My sleeping and eating patterns when I do this are, well, photographers might understand. But when she joins me? We stay in a nice motel/hotel, eat in restaurants. :-) )

But DEVA is a great place, yes? :-)

The first time I showed my wife Death Valley was by staying at the Death Valley Inn. But while there, we took several long drives to show her some of the special parts of the park (like Titus Canyon). After that trip she was sold on DV! We actually did a few tent camping trips until we started visiting in a motorhome towing a Jeep Wrangler. For the next several years we would meet up around New Years with other friends in motorhomes towing 4x4 vehicles, staying first at Sunset CG in Furnace Creek, and later over in the Panamint Valley. During those trips we traveled most of the back roads around Death Valley, Panamint Valley and Saline Valley.

Wonderful set. I especially like #1.
My wife would probably suggest Hawaii as an alternative.

Wow the fire wave, you've convinced me to visit now
For what it's worth, that's the only thing that I thought was really nice at the valley of fire. Everything else is just ok. I spent half a day at the Valley of Fire and thought that was plenty of time.

Gotcha glad to hear half a day was plenty. Thanks so much, helps so much with planning
