Not sure how this happened but the lens cover on my T3 doesn’t open all the way. When I turn it on, it retracts until a certain point and doesn’t go any further. I can move it with my finger but it won’t stay fully retracted. Cover fully closes when the camera is off.
Really bummed about this - does anyone have any advice? Apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum, still relatively new here.
I got my camera back from Nippon after ~2 weeks or so. The total cost came out to be $400 + tax (fixing the stuck cover + CLA).
The issue was fixed, but I am honestly dissatisfied with the overall experience. While disassembling the camera, he marred the cap(?) of the barrel, and left a bit of residue after the fact. I've attached some photos and you can see it on the edges of the cap on the barrel, where the labels are printed.
When i brought this to his attention, he was pretty indignant and dismissive. He stated that this was the result of needing to get access to the piece that was stuck, and that he shouldn't be expected to "restore a camera back to perfect condtion." The point that I was trying to make was that the camera was in slightly worse condition than when I dropped it off. I couldn't really get him to understand my POV, so I just left.
In any case, I know that people have had generally good experiences w/ Nippon. I'm a bit torn as to whether I'm going to go back. The entire interaction left a bad taste in my mouth.
Am i overreacting here? While the additional damage is small and hard to notice, it is bugging me.
Yeah. That's BS. It'd be one thing if this was a $20 camera that you could find anywhere. It's a $2000 camera that probably just lost $200 in resale value from the scratches alone.
