No it's the same, just in a simpler packaging (with basically no settings to choose from).

I setup a profile in PL5 that mimics what PureRaw does. (CA, Color Render, Distortion, Deep Prime, Lens sharpness, and Vignette) and set it as default. so LR>PL5>LR as a DNG.

So I downloaded the 30 day PR 2.0 trial. The claims were 4x faster on M1 silicone.

In my testing with Compressed 50MP A1 RAW I got 15s in 2.0 and 26s in 1.5. What I like about 2.0 is that it is direct out of LR without dragging between the two programs and (when it works) it imports automatically when finished the processing. However about 50% of the time it didn't import automatically, I had to click Synchronize folder and then maybe 10-15s later LR threw up an error for what I assume was the intended auto import.

The results were identical between 1.5 and 2.0 as far as the look of the file afterwards but I don't think they made any claims about new algorithms.

Nikon Z9 is not supported.

Finally! The one thing I've always hated about DXO PR was the cumbersome/convoluted workflow working with LR. I find PR does an amazing job in most cases but cringed just thinking about running an image or two through it because of the PITA process.

Looking forward to installing this update ASAP. Finally!!

It's almost like Christmas today. First this update/upgrade to DXO PR and now we have FW 1.5.2 available for the R5/6. Maybe I'll get my R5 AF back to normal again.

With PR1 I just dragged the file into it from LrC and it exported it right back.

Yes, I have tried everything I could lay my hands on, and liked DXO best. I also like the DXO workflow best - drop a few hundred (or thousand) files on the app in the evening, find the matching DNGs in the morning, and carry on. The whole "no options" (or, "few options") approach of PR is right on.

I'm not sure who copied who but that's exactly how ON1 works

Strange. Just to make sure, last night I downloaded the latest ON1 demo, which opens a full screen window with a button "select images" in it. If I try to drag images onto it, nothing. When I select one image I'm faced with many choices, sliders, etc. That may be desired for some uses, but not what I'm looking for. So I right-clicked the "edit in..." menu in LrC and the only option I got was to edit a flattened TIFF copy. Also not what I'm looking for.

Maybe I'm dragging the wrong way, or maybe this functionality got lost in the current 2022 version. Definitely 1:0 on intuitiveness for DxO, and that's actually pretty shocking given how clumsy PL is

My UI of DXO PR was/is VERY convoluted on my windows system. I never counted how many mouse clicks but it would go something like this, with each line item being a mouse click.

1) Open DXO PR
2) Open LR and go to desired folder then find image to process.
3) Right click on image in LR
4) Select "show in explorer"
5) Click on new tray icon for file explorer to open target folder
6) Drag and drop image over to DXO Icon
7) Click "Process image" in DXO and wait for it to finish
8) Click on export then wait for LR to bring up the Import screen
9) Click import in Library import screen - This creates the DXO sub folder but the main folder doesn't show this new file or folder in LR.
10) Right click on main folder in LR library screen.
11) Select "Sync folder" - This will then show any new files/folders in that main folder and brings up the import dialog again.
12) Select import again for the images it found. Otherwise they don't appear in LR library or development panel
13) Click back on main target folder
14) Click on Development panel and scroll along timeline until I find the new processed DNG next to the raw file.

By this time, I've lost any interest in processing any more images for the night so I close LR and DXO and give up for the night.
Which is yet another 2 mouse clicks.

So yeah, I'm super happy to hear about the new "real" LR interface.

And this is where you stop, drag the images from LR's grid view onto the PR window, and boom. I think the limit for a drag is 500, so if you have more you have to do it in multiple steps. After it's done you select "Export to ... LrC" in the PR dialog, and you're done.

Let me know how it is working on Windows. On Mac it is now...
1) Select RAW in LR
2) Click File-Plug-inExtra-Export to PureRaw 2.0
3) Then PR opens and you click process
4) PR send the files when done to LR and imports automatically into that DXO folder it creates (you don't even see the Import dialogue)
5) Then I can just process the file from there or click back on the top folder above the DXO subfolder to see all the images from that day and the original RAW etc

However, 50% of the time the auto import didn't seem to work and I'd have to do that old Sync folder step and then LR throws up an error later on.

Not on my system with the latest version of PR before this new version. And I'm only doing one or two images at a time.
I literally have to do everyone of those steps for some f'ed up reason.
Oddly, I do seem to recall way back when I first installed DXO PR that it would automatically import nicely back into LR and there was no need to even click on import the first time. And I certainly never had to "sync" the parent folder in order to get them to show. But somewhere along the lines after installing some update things took a turn for the worst. Love the results though.

Are you on MacOS or Windows? Drag and drop of a bunch files works fine on Windows 10. This is a part of my workflow. I can do a video screen capture for you when I get back home on Monday I have no idea about MacOS or Windows 11 though...

N00b's question - why would you need to make a profile choice if you're dealing with raw files in ON1? Or do you mean you can still select and apply a profile in DNGs produced by DXO but it doesn't work in DNGs made by ON1? I don't do anything with color profiles normally, but I'm still curious.

No you can't make a profile choice in ON1 or Topaz Denoise - since this happens to both. I just want either one to apply their NR and sharpening algorithms.

That is correct. When a file comes back to LrC from DXO/PureRaw I can still choose either Adobe or Camera profiles. With ON1 or Topaz Denoise the profile just says Color and the Adobe or Camera profiles are not available.

This refers to editing the actual RAW files in ON1 or Topaz Denoise. Not sending files as a TIFF or DNG plug-ins while preserving LrC edits.

The advantage to editing RAW files in 3rd party NR is they claim to be optimised for RAW. How much real world difference does that make to each user? I don't know. I think they do better job at the RAW level.

I should also say this is why PureRaw is so much better if you are bulk editing. The other two are very cumbersome to edit at the RAW level.

As for results some say PureRaw over-sharpens. There is no way to control this except turning sharpening off. You have better control of this using Photo Lab but it costs more. Both ON1 or Topaz Denoise give you control over sharpening.

So using 3rd party NR at the RAW level has it's advantages and disadvantages. I'm surprised PureRaw 2 does offer sharpening control. There were a lot of complaints about it. I would have considered upgrading if it did.

I bought PureRaw in May 2021. Not even a year and they want another $80 bucks

"If you purchased DxO PureRAW from Feb 16, 2022, you will receive an email next week with a personal offer. Unfortunately, no exceptions will be made for purchases prior to this date."

Think I'll hold off for the next upgrade.

What is decidedly more irritating is that v2 is really no better or different than v1.5, with the exception of a few cameras having been added, and $79 for that upgrade just reeks.

Where are you seeing this $79 price? I just went to upgrade and I'm getting hit with $129! WTH is up with THAT!!! Don't current users get some type of discount at least?

I just checked, I purchased the "Nik Creative Bundle" last year on June 8th for $189. Why the hell isn't this upgrade severely discounted at the very least?

Ironically when I just checked my email I see Topaz Denoise is offering their upgrade for $49. I haven't bothered using Topaz since I got DXO PR because at that time DXO was MUCH better. But this ridiculous price to upgrade has me rethinking which one to go with again.

Anyone have a preference between the latest Topaz and this DXO version?

A video review (

) implies that there is no image quality improvement over the original version.

The improvements appear to be primarily integration with Adobe Lightroom, and some degree of increased processing speed.

To get the upgrade discount you have to log in to your account/purchases & upgrade from there.

Dave you need to log in to your account and then the upgrade is $79.00 vs full price. If not logged in and you hit upgrade it is not discounted.
