The male kitten from this year, of the bobcat mom I've followed for five years, is largely on his own and still learning to hunt. Today I spotted him early and followed. He stopped behind some trees along the edge of the swamp and I knew what he was after. Where he stopped gave me an opportunity I've been waiting a very long time for - the chance to witness a dive into the swamp. I knew where he was waiting to pounce, but had no visual of him so had no idea when he would launch. He came out of his hide and into the water, but missed the coot he was after, so came up hungry and wet. The dive is a out of focus, but useable enough for me. I'm amazed the Sony A1 achieved this level of focus as the cat went from 0-60 in .1 seconds - the whole event was amazingly fast.
Wow, what a sequence! It was probably more the movement that renders the first image blurry and not the AF. But no question about the focus in the last images though. You did well capturing these images, Jeffrey!
Beautiful set. Mother nature moves quick at times. I love #5. Excellent the way the AF locked on to the cat and didn't grab some of the grass between you and the cat.
Great shots and very interesting to see a cat in the water.
Looks like the Sony focussed on water droplets in the first image, like my A9 does sometimes. But it was able to pick out the eyes in the rest. Super work!
That's some fantastic captures, that last look is priceless. Unclear whether he's annoyed because you caught his fail in all its glory or because you're not offering a clean towel to dry off.
